Dear members and friends,Last year' Saint Nicholas event has been a tremendous success because of you all: 110 parents and children gathered at the Ambassador’s Residence and made of this family event a vibrant and much enjoyable moment. This year again, we are proposing the same concept and this special e-mail is not exclusively dedicated to parents, though they may feel addressed most. We would like once again to explicitly invite all of you to attend this event! Please consider this as a first announcement, as well as a call for your involvement in a very informal, sweet and fun-filled morning-get-together with... Saint Nicholas himself! The Saint Nicholas Party will be held at the Ambassador's Residence on 28 November from 9.30 till 12.30 pm. We will have a "walking breakfast" with typical Belgian waffles, pancakes and some salty dishes for those who cannot / should not afford sweets! [below is a map to the Ambassador's Residence] While the kids are being entertained, adults can catch up and have a chat over coffee or tea! We expect the Holy man and his helper(s) to arrive at around 10.30 am, after the kids have been singing and cheering. He will then check his Holy Book, talk to each kid individually and give them their present. The price of this event will be 200THB/adult and 100THB/child (compared to the 600THB last year), not including the presents of course, to be purchased by the parents. We have indeed convinced the following sponsor to support the event. ![]() In order to make this a most successful event, we definitely need your input! It is already close to "D day" and Saint Nicholas needs to purchase certain things well in advance! And of course, he needs to write a compliment to each kid... Therefore, he needs to know exactly how many adults and kids will come to His party. Saint Nicholas also wants to know the kids' age, their special request if any, and their mother tongue. May we therefore ask the parents to prepare a letter to St Nicholas, describing in short the behavior of their beloved kid(s) at home and / or at school, what they like and dislike, what should be improved but especially on what they should be complimented and to send this letter as soon as possible to myriam.ramaekers@gmail.com. Myriam will collect the letters and send them to Saint Nicholas. Enfin, in organizing this event, some practical help during the party itself would be greatly appreciated! If anyone wishes to volunteer to help Saint Nicholas (with or without black face paint!), to get the kids warmed up by singing songs or help out in any other way, please step forward and let us know! As such, could we please ask everyone to click here, download the file and send us your input at news@belgianclub-th.com before 15 November. Thank you very much in advance! Saint Nicholas is a family event and we would like to take the opportunity to raise money to go to Thai flood relief. Many families have been devastated by the recent heavy rains and we want to help them to recover from this disaster as soon as possible. On this Saint Nicholas Day, you will also have the opportunity to donate on a voluntary basis to support our initiative. We will either donate to an organization selected by the Embassy or buy clothes / blankets /… and to distribute them by ourselves. During our General Assembly (27 October), the BCT committee has clearly stated its will to strengthen its support to the Thai society and are committing to this objective. We are looking forward to this event and we hope you are looking forward too! With kind regards, Your BCT-team |
